Skydiving, Climbing Mountains & Marathons -Gaining Momentum

The past 3 weeks of my life
I could not have filled the last 21 days with any more living. I spent a week in Denver climbing a 14,265′ mountain, skydiving in Ocean City – hugging the Atlantic Ocean, launched an exclusive fitness subculture (bringing together potentially the most successful group of fitness studs to date) and committed to train for a marathon in 27 days. I’m a strong believer in the momentum of life. The more we attempt and the more we strive to execute, the more we get out of our invaluable time alive.
Day 21 of 27 – Marathon Training
I’ve been submerging myself in ice baths, snacking on ibuprofin, rubbing myself down in traumeel and spending endless hours stretching and foam rolling. All in the name of doing the impossible. Every so often (more like every day) I get questions of the “why” behind the things I do. From walking the country, to skydiving, to swimming across the intercoastal waterway, I get the itch to live wildly and at the end of the day it’s more about the “doing” and less about the accomplishment. It’s in the moments of following through and attempting action where life builds it’s momentum and what seems impenetrable, turns doable with a few short strides forward. In six days I’ll take the first strides towards a 26.2 mile run. This is something I’ve never set out to do and more than likely, I’m NOT physically ready (27 days isn’t exactly a recommended training protocol for anyone attempting a marathon). But I’ll definitely be throwing my body into the masses of runners and continue putting one foot in front of the other until one of two things happen – I cross the finish line or experience a complete body breakdown.
The Experience
At the end of the day it’s about experience. It’s the forward progress of evolving and thriving in life. It’s about living each day with love and passion towards doing the things we truly want to be a part of and less about what we’re expected to do. Prioritizing, navigating, and continuing to move forward no matter how relentless life may seem will only yield good things.
When the momentum gets shifted to slow and sluggish, motivation often wanes. It’s in these times that our lives seem to work against our every desire. Believe me, I’ve been there and experienced some failure. To continue moving forward in adversity, is where the shift begins. Stagnation is the enemy. Build momentum. Ride the wave of it’s powerful velocity and let your mind rest assured that in this building momentum you are truly experiencing – which is the ultimate existence.
